Jimenez X Hwang

Bruno Lage has unearthed a new strike-forcefulness by the looks of things.

Hwang'southward inclusion in the starting Eleven is designed to give Jimenez some back up, non just in goals but in terms of having another forward running across him.

Jimenez is a striker who likes to drop deep and link the play on occasions and Wolves now accept a forward who can occupy the spaces the Mexican vacates.

Information technology baffled Newcastle's defenders who were unable to preclude Hwang darting in backside and beating Darlow either side of half-time.

The budding strike partnership gives Lage fresh options as well. He could tinker with his formation to play a two-man attack when he pleases.

While Hwang will equitably grab the headlines, Jimenez played similar a player high on conviction later breaking his duck at Southampton concluding week and Lage thought it was his number nine's 'all-time game' yet.

Lage finds the winning formula

It would exist fair to say Wolves' last two performances feature amid their bottom three this season - with Brentford being the other - merely they take collected half dozen points.

Later weeks of excellent football and no advantage, Wolves are now grinding out results without existence at their free-flowing best.

It is something this squad is capable of having washed and so regularly under previous head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

Lage hasn't abased Bruno-Ball, far from it, but he has clearly recognised the need to go points on the board early in the flavor.

Iii wins from a tough opening seven fixtures is a solid return. The merely game Wolves were expected to win which they didn't was that off-day versus Brentford.

Wolves are becoming less reliant on Traore

One supporter sat just behind the press box had travelled all the mode from the United states to scout this match.

As he made his way out of Molineux he told a steward that he made the 4,417-mile trip to sentinel Jimenez and Adama Traore play together.

Lage crushed his dreams past only introducing Traore off the demote in stoppage fourth dimension and the pair didn't take chance to combine at all.

It's a sign of Hwang's capabilities that Traore is no longer a guaranteed pick, which was the instance in the opening weeks of the season and for nigh of the last ii seasons.

Lage selects his 11 based on the opponent rather than the grade of the individual, so Traore'south time will come over again.

Simply later on so long where Wolves' game-programme has simply been to give the ball to Traore and hope for the all-time, it'south refreshing to see that Lage is finding other avenues to success.

The Newcastle curse is broken

It wasn't Lage's curse to break only coming into the game Wolves fans could take been forgiven for expecting a 1-1 draw.

The terminal five games between Wolves and the Magpies have concluded i-1 and eight of the 12 Premier League matches played betwixt them have finished with that score-line.

Information technology could quite easily have ended the same manner had information technology non been for Hwang's ruthlessness in front of goal.

These games, confronting the teams downwards the lesser, are historically the ones this Wolves squad has struggled in. Hopefully wins over Watford, Southampton and Newcastle - all of whom are relegation candidates - take prepare the precedent for Wolves.
